Trasharama A-Go-Go

Trasharama A-Go-Go which hails from Adelaide, Australia is a nasty touring festival of trash film. Full of B-Grade Horror, Bad Taste Comedy, Cheesy Sci-Fi and Warped Animations this festival has been running now for 10 years. The premiere night will be held at the Mercury Cinema in Adelaide on October the 6th.

Trasharama takes festival participation to sickly new heights and they say "During the last few years we've had nasty circus freaks, trashy preachers, Gothic belly dancers and sexy snake dancers, and this year we'll be having a special guest performer in the shape of Eden: The Exotic Vampire Dancer (insert werewolf whistle)." - so you can take the opportunity to wear that old netting jumpsuit that has been sitting in your cupboard for a rainy fancy dress.

My short film, "The Film that John Lennon couldn't make" was actually a highlight in the Trasharama A-Go-Go Festival 2000, it was the event that Dick Dale's suggestion of having the front row shave their nuts in honour of his short film "Creamy Love", "went down like a lead balloon!".

Although entries are now closed, it is the first time ever that Trasharama has accepted entries from the world over, that means rotten flops and sticky flickered filmmakers from everywhere in the world now have possibly the cheapest and most exposed trash friendly film festival in which to send their work. The entry fee is only $10, now that is the most sensible price ever slapped on an entry form. You get your work screened at fourteen venues around Australia from Hobart to Rockhampton - and the people turning up genuinely love trash films.

They have attempted to have an MA and R rating for this year, I'm not sure if that has happened - last year I sent them my short film "60 Second Relief" which clearly would have given them a 'Your booked' by the censorship authorities, but MUFF has opted to screen it this year as part of Mini MUFF, I'm hoping although the devilish Dale takes it in his staked heart to screen it this year in "lure" of films over-deadline going into the next years batch (possibly), (I sent it in 2006).

Want to read some of the frequently asked questions? Go here. I suggest if you're into creating from the depths of your depravity or glorious film junk is your bag, then keep this festival in mind for 2008. Actually print out the entry form now and file it for next year.
