Courtisane Short Film, Video and New Media Festival

From the beautiful town of Ghent (See below) comes the Courtisane Short Film, Video and New Media Festival in Belgium. This year the International prize was Avid, so this is a festival you may want to be involved in. Ghent is also host to a rather exciting street festival called Gentse Feesten where up to 2 million people have been known to attend every year.

Ghent was also the hometown of Jean Daskalidès, documentary filmmaker, founder of Leonidas chocolates, and gynecologist. An interesting mix, Jean directed about 34 films including Teleblock, Student, and Mundo carne.

The Courtisane Short Film, Video and New Media Festival focuses on audiovisual creation that extends the methods in order to explore vision especially through crossmediality. Courtisane is currently calling out for entries for its 2009 festival, the deadline is 15th December 2008.

The submission form is available here.
