The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Teaser Trailer

It is worth following the trail of Gilliam enthusiasm for the release of his latest film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Gilliam represents for many filmmakers a craftsman who tirelessly uses cinema for its quintessential objective, to deliver us from reality, quite literally in Gilliam's case, as many of his films are about transcending common everyday realities into magical worlds. Cinema of course can attempt to re-look at the everyday but Terry exerts his efforts into transporting us into his mind and the minds of others through fictional voyages.

But from a filmmaking point of view Terry Gilliam is insanely passionate about his craft, going to great lengths to create. I don't think he has changed since the days of Python when he stated that he used to sit with a towel on his head just making silly noises for hours in order to come up with audio effects for his animations. He is the wild artist manically attacking a canvass to get what is in his head out into the physical world. Of course Gilliam also seems to create with the intention of having an audience, he wants to elevate his audience, indeed it is safe to say that when Terry Gilliam makes a film he wants to impress us, surprise us and stimulate us as he is himself about the world.
