Athens Video Art Festival 2009

"Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed."

Celebrating digital culture the Athens Video Art Festival promotes a range of work, everything from video, web art, animations to installations and digital images. The deadline for submitting your films is January 31st 2009. What you need to supply is a data cd, stills, short biography and a description of the work. There is no submission fee attached to entering your videos, just keep under fifteen minutes and you will be alright.

The Atehns Video Art Festival is the official video art festival of Greece. Their aim "is to promote this modern and vivid form of expression, giving the artists additional motives to create and the opportunity to express, while at the same time being an interesting and original affair to the public."

You can pick up an entry form at this direct link.

Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world so it's kind of fun that it has this festival which explores new technologies and digital media. I counted 27 cities around the world that have adopted the nickname of Athens, and Melbourne Australia has a larger Greek population than any city outside of Athens. Both Socrates and Plato came from Athens. So there are a few of my bits of trivia to do with Athens, so now get your DVDs toasting and pop them in the post.
