Jerusalem International Film Festival 2009

From July 9 - 18, 2009 The Jerusalem International Film Festival in Israel will be screening local and international feature and short films. Registration is free although screening copies of your films must on DigiBeta PAL. Don't forget to send them some publicity material also. You can access the entry form by clicking on this link.

The festival started in 1984, and it spans over ten days with around 200 films in its program. They say that over the years the festival has "screened film debuts by Wong Kar Wai, Tsai Ming-liang, John Sayles, Jim Jarmusch, Stephen Frears, Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, Neil Jordan, John Lasseter".

They also say that over the past eighteen years the festival has expanded, "It has reached out to a wide range of audiences: from open-air screenings in Sultan’s Pool, through avant-garde and innovative works, to professional events catering to the local film industry." The Sultan's Pool is a performance space part of the Hinnom Valley flanking Mount Zion.

There is also a Spirit of Freedom Competition for films dealing in human rights, the deadline is April 15TH which I assume is the same for the main competition.
