"PEKING DUCK OR VIDEO IN TIME OF CRISIS" is the motto behind the Videoholica festival this year. Held in Varna, according to the faithful Wikipedia is "the largest city and seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast and in Northern Bulgaria". The theme has a lot to do with the global financial crisis, and the motto focuses on two outstanding and historical elements of that crisis - Luxury and Poverty. Videoholica is an "art video" festival, opening up for none mainstream narratives, experimental works, abstract video and of course video art.
Videoholica 2009 is currently calling for submissions for their festival this year. The deadline is 20th June and the festival runs in August. The T&C can be tracked down here, and that is where you'll find the entry form also. There is no fee for submitting your film.
However a few notable things are mentioned that I will re-mention here on snuffboxfilms. When you are authoring your film to DVD, make sure you do it under the Windows operating system and not on a Mac. 3 still images also on DVD are required and should be CMYK colour and 300 dpi. You can submit your video work as a team or individual and should include a Curriculum Vitae (Soft-copy on DVD with the stills) and a hard-copy also. The DVD should be "All regions" or Region 2 for Bulgaria.
