Along with Worzel Gummidge, Catweazle was a favourite fantasy kids series of mine when I was a youngster, and still is, although I am no longer younger, the show remains a favourite. Recently I was terribly excited to hear that the Ettinger Brothers, independent film production group are in the process of getting the feature film of Catweazle under-way. The original series, all 26 episodes were shot entirely on 16mm and visually is quite stunning in parts. The script by Richard Carpenter is befittingly eccentric and intelligent. Not to mention Geoffrey Bayldon as Catweazle, Robin Davies as 'Carrot', Charles 'Bud' Tingwell as Dad, and Neil McCarthy as Sam. Other notable actors in the second series were Gary Warren as 'Owl Face', and Moray Watson as Lord Collingford. Some worthwhile major characters in individual episodes played by Paul Eddington, and Aubrey Morris.
I'm hoping with this feature film adaptation, that the casting is carefully contrived, and Richard Carpenter's writing used.
